About Cabin Fever....

Located on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies in Gunnison, CO, Cabin Fever Video & Music opened its doors in November 2000.  Originally consisting of 5 partners, the idea was to sell pre-recorded media (CD, DVD & VHS) and to rent videos (mainly VHS with a few DVD's).  The initial inventory was enough to get people in the door, Gunnison being a college town with no movie theater, but it most definitely had a long way to go.

As one of two CD stores (not including Wally World!) and one of  four video stores in the city of Gunnison at the time, the vision for the true potential of the store wasn't yet realized, nor was there a solid vision yet to follow...by February 2002, the direction was set and the rest is Gunnison Valley history.  One of the video stores called it quits, as did the other CD store a couple of years later, and Cabin Fever is now poised to serve the Gunnison Valley for years to come.

A simple philosophy was adopted around February 2002: customer service is paramount and crucial to the long term success of a small-town video & music store.  People come to us to be entertained and we shall not disappoint!  Besides, this job is fun - and a good time is infectious!

The people behind and within Cabin Fever are now Derik Breiner (employee since May 2001, general manager since February 2002, owner since February 2004 to present) and Neely Raska Bowles (employee and owner since February 2004).  Check out our staff page and contact info for more on the people at CF.

The Gunnison Valley is home to Western State College, Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Blue Mesa Reservoir, Taylor Canyon, and all sorts of other cool places besides Cabin Fever...definitely worth checking out!
